VIEWS ON PLASTIC SCOOTERS / DARKSIDE.....Plastic as in Auto?  If so I think they are a good idea, Faster, Cleaner, easier to ride etc.

BEST SCOOTER EXPERIENCE....     I’ve had too many in the past 27 years to list, I would have to say the Isle of Wight 1984, if you were there you will know exactly what I mean.  The best personal experience for me was riding my newly rebuilt T5 to Finlake, Devon in 1999 – starting out with a big posse, getting split up leaving just Me, Rick and Bubble. The scooter gradually falling apart, no gears, kick-start wouldn’t work, ignition barrel falling out, then hitting Exeter in the rush hour, losing the others, being on my own in torrential rain…. And getting to Finlake 8 hours after leaving Farnham!

 WORST SCOOTER EXPERIENCE.....    Probably the above, ha ha… and riding to Weston-Super-Mare 1984, at 1.30am, pitch black going through Cheddar Gorge and not seeing the cliff ahead until it was almost too late – how Myk managed to keep the scooter up, I’ll never know, but we leant that far over that I lost all the leather off the side of my boot. Brilliant Rally though.

SCOOTERS OWNED....Vespa 90 bought off Vinnie Cannon. Built my own Lammy, a cut down LI 150 with copper forks. Then had another LI 150 with a Pacemaker engine, sold to Kev Brookes.  Vespa 90 again, bright orange. A T5 which Elvis now owns, a Lambretta Cento, courtesy of Big Si. and now a Vespa ET2.

BEST AND WORST OF SCOOTERING SCENE....    The best was in the 80’s, when you had no kids, mortgage, or responsibilities, and money to spend. Worse is the so-called Cult Status of scooters which hoiked up the prices to stupid money. When will people realise, a scooter is only worth as much as the person is willing to pay….. Their not worth Łk’s because some bloke on telly said so.

CAMPING OR CHALET......  Due to health reasons, Chalet. Although I used to love camping, the camaraderie on the campsite made the rally.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION....

The saying Scootering is a way of life is true in our case. Myk and I have been together since we were teenagers, and always had scooters and always done at least 3 or 4 scooter rallies every year from 1981. Even when the kids came along, even if we just went for the day. 

I couldn’t even begin to count the number of Rallies and Do’s I have been on.

In the early 90’s it was a bit hard with the formation of the NSRA and not knowing where a Rally was until 2 weeks before the event, as you couldn’t always book the time off work, but we managed it.

We have always had scooters, and will probably always will have scooters, just as we always have and always will be Aldershot A5.
